Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

TL;DR

Your files never leave your device. We cannot see them, we do not store them, we do not want them. Everything processes locally in your browser using WebAssembly.

1. How MiOffice.ai Works

MiOffice.ai uses WebAssembly (WASM) technology to process files entirely within your web browser. When you use our tools:

  • Files are loaded into your browser's memory only
  • Processing happens on your device using your CPU/GPU
  • Results are generated locally and never transmitted
  • Files are never uploaded to any server

This architecture means we are technically unable to access, view, or store your files — even if we wanted to.

2. Data We Collect

File Data

None. Your files never touch our servers. We have no access to file contents, names, metadata, or any derivative data.

Analytics Data

We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve our service:

  • Which tools are used (e.g., "Merge PDF" was used — not what PDF was merged)
  • General geographic region (country level)
  • Browser type and screen size
  • Page views and session duration
  • Core Web Vitals performance metrics

This data is anonymous and cannot identify you or your files.

Engagement Data

We use a browser fingerprint (stored in localStorage) to track download counts for engagement features (e.g., share prompts). This identifier stays in your browser and is never linked to personal information.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following services:

ServicePurposeData Shared
Google Analytics 4Usage analyticsAnonymous page views, events
Google AdsConversion trackingTool usage events (no file data)
Umami AnalyticsPrivacy-focused analyticsAnonymous, self-hosted, no cookies

None of these services have access to your files.

4. Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party targeting cookies.

5. GDPR — Your Rights (EU/EEA Users)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access — Request a copy of your personal data (note: we hold minimal data)
  • Right to Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to Erasure — Request deletion of your data
  • Right to Restrict Processing — Request limitation of data processing
  • Right to Data Portability — Receive your data in a structured format
  • Right to Object — Object to processing of your data

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@mioffice.ai. We will respond within 30 days.

Legal basis for processing: Legitimate interest (analytics to improve service). File processing has no legal basis requirement because files are never transmitted to us.

6. CCPA — California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • We do not sell personal information. We never have and never will.
  • You have the right to know what data we collect (see Section 2 above).
  • You have the right to request deletion of your data.
  • You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

To opt out of analytics, use a browser with tracking protection or install an ad blocker. To request data deletion, email privacy@mioffice.ai.

7. Data Retention

  • File data: Never stored. Not applicable.
  • Analytics data: Aggregated, no personal identifiers. Retained for up to 14 months (GA4 default).
  • Server logs: Standard HTTP logs retained for 30 days for security monitoring.

8. Children's Privacy

MiOffice.ai is a general-purpose tool available to all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since files are processed locally and we collect no personal data, there is no children's data to protect — by design.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
